After probably the worst night's sleep in my life...think mega thunderstorms, noisy bin lorries, psycho scooters/motos and then café chairs being dragged out we set off from Loches. I felt the need almost immediately to really push myself until coffee, so Sue and me shot off, now classed as the morning breakaway, despite the fact that I had no sleep I was cycling really well and we covered the first 18 miles in just over an hour and were the first in to the Isabelle coffee stop. The majority of the others arrived 5 or 10 minutes later. We then set off in a pretty big group, maybe around 9 of us. It was lovely smooth cycling and pretty flat so we were keeping a really good pace taking turns up the front to keep the wheels turning.
It was a picnic lunch again today, an early one as we arrived before midday due to the speed we were travelling.
We headed off as a big group again for the afternoon, the terrain was changing and the route was getting hillier. We cycled through some lovely towns as we were heading for Crozant/Fresselines and cycled up and down some great hills mainly in and out of gorges.
The group is split tonight between hotels and villages. Some are in Hotel du Lac in Crozant and a group of 9 of us are in Fresselines at a Chambre d'Hotes. After a lovely meal in a local restaurant it was early to bed for a very long needed sleep!!
